April didn’t do our Section any favors with lots of severe weather during the month. 445 hours of Skywarn spotting were reported this month. NWS St. Louis put out a note saying that the 46 county warning area for LSX had 27 confirmed tornados so far this year compared to 17 for the same period last year. Skywarn is keeping ARES busy but that is one of the major contributions by our members to serve their local areas.
Field Day is coming next month on the 28 & 29th. Hopefully, your groups are planning to have an exciting and safe exercise that weekend. It’s a great event to showcase amateur radio and its capblilities.
