March is Severe Weather Awareness month. By now, most areas have done their drills and we continue to prepare for our season of severe weather. If you have not attended a NWS Spotter training course for a while, consider attending the online courses being offered by NWS. Go to your local NWS web page and register for one of the remaining courses. It never hurts to refresh an old skill.

Benton Co. – BC ARES Members participated in the following nets: MTN, MESN, ARES, Region A Healthcare, and various club nets. KE0LMZ ran the Region A Healthcare Net on the 17th. There were 20 check-ins, with 11 being from healthcare facilities.February 10th, the BC ARES hosted the monthly meeting and training for the BC ARES, BC MO CERT, and Camden County CERT, providing WebEx virtual training on Emergency Radio Communications. BC ARES/CERT members have been volunteering on site for all vaccination events held by the Benton County Health Department throughout the month and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. It is my recommendation that these volunteer groups are recognized not only at the local level, but at the national level for their efforts during these long hours and ongoing events throughout the pandemic.
