September reporting activity was received from 32 counties out of our 65 counties that have ECs. Covid continues reduce our activities but don’t forget that radio nets and virtual meetings certainly count as hours of service. Now that it’s October, I hope the SETs are proceeding. I’ve received a report from District F that held a successful SET and ours in St. Charles Co. went off well. ARES members here “deployed” to their garages, driveways and cars to set up Go-Kits and have an exercise simulating shelter support and communications.
I received notice that Ron Tost, K0RGT passed away in late September. He was the DEC for District G and served in that position for a number of years. His celebration of life was held on September 29th in Ava, MO.

BENTON Co. –
BC ARES Members participated in the following nets: MTN, ARES, Region A Healthcare, KCHEART, and various club nets.
N0XIA ran the Region A Healthcare Net on the 16th. There were 19
check-ins, with 7 of month due to increased workload at healthcare facilities because of COVID-19.
Along with the drop in net activities, the BC ARES leadership has decided on a partial cancellation of the county’s SET. The physical portion of the SET was canceled, however, the on-the-air portion of the SET will be held on Oct. 10 as scheduled. JOHNSON Co. –
Members installed several mesh nodes to improve coverage area in the Warrensburg area and installed a PTZ camera to view weather conditions to the West of Warrensburg.
JACKSON Co. –
In a previous Mail Chimp e-mail to members I sent out a feeler in order to gauge if we had enough interest in conducting a SET exercise this year when other groups in the region conduct theirs. I received a light response which I judged was not enough to stage a robust and revealing exercise. I appreciate those who did respond. Thank you for your spirit and interest. I am therefore not going to direct that Jackson County ARES conduct an exercise next Saturday. SET is canceled for October 3 and not postponed.
KB0EMB, Larry Trullinger became a SK.
CLAY/PLATTE Co. –
Northland ARES members were called upon to put together an activity for the ARRL SET event
occurring October 3. Due to the COVID-19 the MECC planning team did not come together as in
past years. During September a plan was put together based on COVID-19 Testing Stations.
The Sept. meeting focused on the SET details with ARES members.
