February was a relatively quiet month with most of the eastern section flood activities wrapping up. Ste. Genevieve County ARES had a nice PR piece in the ARRL newsletter describing their flood support efforts to Ste. Genevieve County.
As we move into March, we are at the beginning of our severe weather season. March 14-18 is Severe Weather Awareness Week sponsored by NWS. March 15th is scheduled as drill day with NWS offices issuing Tornado Warnings as a test of the system. This is the time for ARES to call their severe weather nets and practice communications for Skywarn activities. Take advantage of this time to hold your local nets.
District A: Carroll Co. ARES is sponsoring Technician Reviews and exam sessions wth hams from Lafayette , Ray, and Saline Counties. Cass County members attended Storm Spotter Training. Jackson County updated their member contacts information for emergency alerting. Northland continues to develop digital communications using FSQCall. Successful testing was held during the month with the MESN and SEMA.
District B: The district is gearing up to support Bikes Across Missouri.
District F: Boone County ARES supported the Froze Toes Bike Race. Additional efforts are under to develop new ARES groups in Camden, Cooper and Howard Counties.
District G: Douglas County held a license test session on February 2nd. Wright County continues to develop their organization.
