Missouri Section Activity Report – September 2015

September was a relatively quiet month with good weather but training activities continued with over 1500 hours reported in the section. As I enter this report, I look forward to receiving your SET after action reports. I am aware that St. Louis Metro ARES  and St. Charles Co. ARES held Simulated Emergency Tests yesterday. I personally participated with St. Charles County which was a combined effort between ARES,  CERT, and County EM. I plan on adding a page to the website next month to publish the SET reports that I receive so everyone in the section can see the activity reported and hopefully learn from everyone’s different scenarios, how they worked and/or didn’t work. Seeing each others plans and execution of those plans helps us to strengthen our group in providing better communications to our served agencies.

Districts A & F participated in a joint District communications exercise at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia during a 3 day conference held by SEMA as part of the Missouri Department of Public Safety’s Deployable Communications Asset drill. The after action report for that exercise will be included on the webpage for SET reports.

District News:

District A: As mentioned above, Benton, Johnson and Pettis Counties ARES participated in the Communications Asset Drill. Jackson County and Northland ARES conducted a SET Briefing in preparation for their SET. Cass County ARES had seven members take WebEOC training.

District C: ARES continues to grow in District C as Franklin, Jefferson and St. Francois Counties reported increases in membership. ARES members particpated in Bike MS communications on a new route this year in Metro East Illinois.

District D: ARES members particpated in supporting various Festivals, Fairs and Bike MS.

District G: New ECs were appointed in Ozark and Wright Counties. DCAR ARES demonstrated Amateur Radio as part of the Safety Fair In Ava with 16 members. Planning continues within the district to link various repeaters to enhance district wide communications.
