To All Radio Amateurs in the ARES® Missouri Section:

Below is the activity report for our section. 2237 hours were spent supporting net, training, public service events and emergency operations. This is an impressive committment to the organization.

Highlights for the month are the appointments of the District C DEC, N0PNP, Ste. Genevieve Co. EC, KD0HHM and Maries Co. EC, W3BRT. Other EC candidates are pending and hopefully I can report on those next month. District A participated in 3 public service events and Operation readiness in Lafayette Co., District B held a number of Skywarn training sessions, and District D reports that they have a linked repeater system in operation that covers the entire district. It has been a busy month.

Please pass this information along to all our membership. Again this month we had all 9 districts reporting.

I do have a few comments that I hope might stir up some additional interest in ARES and help us grow the section.

1. If you don’t have a leadership position in ARES and are interested — Please let your DEC or even I know and we will see what we can make happen. If you notice there are a potential for 115 County EC’s and we currently have 49. That means quite a few openings for county EC’s.

2. If you are currently an EC or above. It is important that you maintain your ARRL membership. EC and above positions are approved by ARRL and current membership is a requirement. Don’t let a lapse in your membership be a cause for your removal – You are needed

3. Invite your ham friends to your next meeting and try to get them interested in joining ARES. An active group makes us much more valuable to our community.

4. Talk to your EC and perhaps volunteer to give a presentation on a subject matter related to Emergency Communications that could be of interest to the rest of the group. As a former EC, I know that trying to come up with a meeting agenda each month, can get to be a struggle at times.

5. As an EC — Please get your monthly reports into your DEC by the 4th of the month. They are responsible to have their District reports in by the 6th so I can gather all the info and pass it along to Dale Bagley our Section Manager, as well as the ARRL office.

Thanks again to all of you for your continued support of the ARES Missouri Section

Below is the section report for January 2013.

I want to thank you all for the promptness of your reports and once again we had reports from all nine districts in our section. This only happens because each of you assume your responsibility to get your report in to your DEC on time and they, in turn, provide me the information that makes up our Section Report.

I am looking forward to 2013 being a exciting year for Missouri ARES as we move forward as a cohesive organization.
Our membership numbers are still strong and even though we have lost a few EC in recent months I am sure that those positions will be filled and we will continue to grow. If you, as ARES members, know of a person you think will be interested in the principles of what ARES stands for, I hope that you will invite them to your next ARES group meeting (Better yet, bring them with you) If you are in an area without an EC, consider asking about becoming a person in a leadership position.
