The year 2016 has come and gone. Did you notice the extra second? I didn’t. ARES® activity in the Missouri Section continues to be strong. 1232 ARES Missouri Section members donated 33,733 manhours particpating in training, nets, public service and serving various agencies during emergencies. This is a great demonstration of the committment of the membership towards public service. I hope 2017 continues to have increased growth and activity in the ARES program.
Many thanks to all of the DECs and ECs that have faithfully provided the statistics for their counties and districts.
Comments from the Districts:
District A – Mike Bellinger K0UAA DEC:
(Cass) Deniese Elosh took the AuxComm class in December.
(Northland) Looking back on 2016 I feel it was a productive year in ARES and Amateur Radio in general. The Northland ARES Ham 101 in the spring had some new operators from
the testing session. The use of digital communications during the NLE & SET was successful. This was due in part to the efforts of members that developed a net work using digital communications on HF and VHF/UHF. The KC North ARES
web site has a link to FSQcall that provides information for operators.
The operation of the Digital Learning Net on Sunday evenings has provided information to keep net participants current on the various digital communications software. The
relationship between Jackson County ARES digital net has continued to grow.
Thank you for your continued support….”
District G – Ron Tost K0RGT DEC:
Oregon County is working on getting ARES® Members and Carter County is reorganizing and doing new applications.
Wright County – In our Net Preamble it says that if the repeater is non operational then go to simplex freq. So 12-22-16 net, we started on the repeater then after the checkins were taken we went to 147.520 to finish the net in order to see if we could communicate. Worked well.
